Parfums

"Parfums" (fragrance) isn't one chemical - it's a legal shorthand for a mixture of scent compounds added to make a household product smell nice or mask other odours. The mixture can contain natural extracts, essential oils, and synthetic aroma chemicals, often dozens of them in one product. Because recipes are treated as trade secrets, the label usually doesn't say which specific chemicals are inside. For most healthy adults, everyday exposure through smell, skin contact, or light air exposure causes no problem. But fragrance blends are a leading cause of allergic contact dermatitis (itchy, red skin) and can irritate eyes, nose or lungs in people who are sensitive, have asthma, or have fragrance allergies.
