A lanolin-derived emulsifying wax used in skin creams; safe for most people but a known contact allergen for a few.
Eucerit is a trade name for a wool-wax (lanolin) alcohol blend, mainly cholesterol and related sterols, used as a water-in-oil emulsifier in moisturizing creams and ointments. It has no food or ingestion role and no formal EU cosmetics restriction, but like other lanolin derivatives it can trigger contact allergy in a small share of users, especially those with eczema or damaged skin.

Why it matters
Eucerit is not a single chemical but a processed mixture of lanolin (wool fat) alcohols, mostly cholesterol and related sterols. It's used in cosmetic and dermatological creams as an emulsifier — it helps blend oily and watery ingredients into a smooth, stable cream and gives products a rich, moisturizing feel. It has been used in skincare formulations for over a century, most famously as the base for the Eucerin cream line. Most people can use products containing it without any issue. The main group who should care are people with a known lanolin or wool-wax allergy, since Eucerit is derived from that material.
