Fat reduced cocoa

Zināms arī kā: fat-reduced cocoa, lean cocoa

LieliskiIedarbības ceļš: Norīts

A less fatty cocoa powder made by pressing out cocoa butter - basically a food ingredient, not an additive.

Fat-reduced cocoa is regular cocoa powder with much of its natural fat (cocoa butter) removed by pressing. It's used to add chocolate flavor and color to foods with less fat and fewer calories than full-fat cocoa. It carries the same nutrition profile as cocoa in general, including small amounts of caffeine and related stimulants.

Why it matters

Cocoa beans are naturally about half fat (cocoa butter). To make fat-reduced cocoa, manufacturers press out most of that fat, leaving a drier powder that's still rich in cocoa flavor and color but lower in calories and fat. It's used in chocolate drinks, baked goods, ice cream, and confectionery. It isn't a chemical additive - it's a processed food ingredient, similar to how skim milk is milk with less fat taken out. Nobody needs to specifically worry about this unless they have a known sensitivity to cocoa or caffeine-like compounds.
