Ground hazelnuts

UzmanībuIedarbības ceļš: Norīts, Saskare

A nutritious tree nut, but one of the most common serious food allergens.

Ground hazelnuts are just hazelnuts crushed into small pieces or powder, used for flavor, texture, and nutrition in foods like cakes, spreads, and chocolates. For most people they are a healthy, well-tolerated food, but for people with a tree nut allergy they can trigger reactions ranging from mild to life-threatening.

Why it matters

Hazelnuts are a tree nut. Grinding them just changes the texture, not the chemistry. They contain healthy fats, protein, fiber, vitamin E, and minerals, and are a normal part of many diets. The main safety issue isn't toxicity but allergy: tree nut allergy is one of the most common and most severe food allergies, and hazelnut is among the nuts most frequently involved. For someone without a nut allergy, ground hazelnuts are simply a nutritious ingredient with no meaningful risk.
